Brooklyn Children's Museum is one of the first museums in the world that was ever open for kids. It all started by a woman who opened her house for the kids in the neighborhood just for them to play and have fun. Than this museum was open which is very near to her house and it became the first museum that was ever open for kids. Also, because this museum expanded, it became also the first "green museum" in New York City.
These pictures are showing the parts of the museum where me and Jensy worked. This part of the museum is called "Totally Tots" Everyday, this part of the museum was full of kids around 18 months and 5 years old. Imagine how small they were. Also, they were coming to the "Art Studio" to finish arts and crafts that were prepared for them that day, the house was full with toys, dolls, small houses that kids could play, the slide which was all provided with metallic equipments that created noises all over the place with just one touch. Than, the water area was the most famous place that all the kids were running towards when they were coming to "Totally Tots" and I learned that playing with water is one of the favorite things for kids to do. As you can see on the picture, the sand area is also provided with toys but the sand is unusual because is a blue sand and the first day of internship, our supervisor told us that this is the only place where you can find the blue sand and if someone asks you where the blue sand is, you know what they are talking about. The Cinema is just a place for kids to do their own show for their parents where they can also change their clothes by wearing the ones that the museum gives and the last but not least is the Reading Nook which is full of books where kids and also parents can read to each other. Since I always wanted to work with kids of this age and also have a lot of interesting stuff and places to show to them, this is one thing that went well during my internship because as you can see, I had the opportunity to work with kids of that age and also show them this great museum that can always grab a child's attention.
As I said, this museum had a lot of fun and interesting stuff for kids to play and see as well. Seeing animals and other creatures is one of them. The first day of internship, me and Jensy had to touch snakes, cockroaches and turtles. This is a pictures of one of the snakes in the museum. It was an hard task touching the snake because it was our first time and we were not sure on how it feels like to touch a snake or what the snake is going to do when we touch it but actually, it was not as hard as everyone thinks. I think that being able to touch these creatures was one of my biggest accomplishments during this internship by which i'm very proud of.
